The purpose of the North Dakota Cutting Horse Association is to encourage interest in cutting horses and to promote the cutting horse industry in the State of North Dakota.
We approve and hold cutting horse events across the state of North Dakota and assist the producers and managers of any cutting horse competition in organizing and running the event. We maintain a high standard of sportsmanship in our competitions and offer year-end awards in every class that is appropriate.

JANUARY 16, 2010 MEETING MINUTES:
North Dakota Cutting Horse Association Annual Meeting Bismarck, ND Ramkota Inn
1:10 PM President John Hovde called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. We then introduced ourselves. Rex Cook seconded, motion passed, with correction of spelling of Ys Men's Rodeo Secretary then read the Treasurer's report, Val Bahm made a motion to approve it as read, Jim Neshem seconded, motion passed. Secretary then read the individual show reports, the year-end report and awards committee report. Bob Bahm questioned the # of cattle used at the cuttings. Need to keep the number down to 1.475 head per cutter. Bob Bahm made a motion that Deb Dwyer be the awards committee for 2010, Ginny Eck seconded, motion passed. Jim Neshem gave the nominating committee report. Bill Retterath. John Hovde and Darrell Chruszch have all agreed to serve again. VP Jim Neshern then called for nominations from the floor. Bob Bahm made a motion that nominations cease and we cast a unanimous ballet, Rex Cook seconded, motion passed. The nominating committee for 2011 is Bill Retterath and he will pick 2 general members to serve with him.
Old Business:
Darrel Loftesnes brought up the newsletter, there was discussion about if we need one or not. Shawna Parsons has volunteered to create a website for us and keep it updated. Will have links, classifieds and list our sponsors on it. Bob Bahm made a motion to have the BOD decide how to do this, Darrel Loftesnes seconded, motion passed.
New Business: .
NCHA Weekend, there was discussion about why we are not hosting it again, it was supposed to be our turn. We had our turn taken away from us in 2007 also. The applications came out early this fall and we did not get one, they used to come out in January. Minnesota was the only state to send one in, so the National Directors voted to let them host it. Bill Retterath has talked to the Mandan Saddle Club, they will let us use their arena for $100/day, stalls would be at the sale barn, Memorial Weekend is open. Cattle are available for $20 + trucking. (30 miles) ND State Fair Cutting will be July 31 & Aug 1 in Minot. Fair will again give us $1,000.00. Miles City, MT will be April 24 & 25th. The membership has approved this show for year-end awards. ND State Finals Cutting in Medora, Sept. 18 & 19, they will give us 4 jackets, $1000 and host a BBQ. Dakota Community Bank will donate $500 again. Jean Valor and Jane Haught have an arena at Baldwin and lots of facilities and would like to host some cuttings at their place. Bob & Val Bahm are planning to have a cutting, need to find a date. Gib Vangsness wants to have a cutting, also needs to find a date. Darrell Chruszch would like to host a cutting if he can find and pick a date. Bob Bahm gave a report from the NDHSA Rodeo BOD. They have approved to make cutting mandatory for the next three years. There were 12 boys and 12 girls cutting this fall.! Val Bahm made a motion that we again pay the NCHA dues for all the high school cutters. Jim Neshem seconded, motion passed. John read our list of sponsors for 2009. We all need to work t getting more of them. John then thanked Ginny Eck for all of the hard work she does for the group. Turn back horse of the year: Mike Schlegel nominated Zac Chita, Bob Bahm made a motion that nominations cease and we cast a unanimous ballet, Bill Retterath seconded, motion passed. Most Improved Cutter: Russ Mather nominated Darrell Parsons, Robby Hansen nominated Cody Schlegel. Bob Bahm made a motion that nominations cease, Ginny Eck seconded, lotion passed. Cody Schlegel was the winner. Sportsmanship Award: Darrel Loftesnes nominated Jim Neshem, Bob Dwyer nominated Darrell Parsons, Rex Cook made a motion that nominations cease, Robby Hansen seconded, motion passed. Jim Neshem was the winner. We need to all work at getting more members. There was discussion about aged event classes. The next subject was videotaping. Jeff Erhardt will do it again for us for $6 per run + expenses. John read a letter from him and he suggested we purchase our own equipment, he will teach someone how to run it and take care of it. Should be able to do it for about $900. Bobbi Bingeman has volunteered to do this as long as Jeff is not involved. She already knows how to run the equipment. Jane Haught and Elaine Mather also volunteered to help. Bob Dwyer made a motion to table this to the BOD, Rex Cook seconded, motion passed.
We then took a group photo. Meeting was adjourned at 3:30 PM
